Romania cannot register a solid economic growth if exports will not increase, Finance minister Sebastian Vladescu declared in a meeting with economic counselors of Romania’s Embassies across the world. He added that an increase in exports will push Romania out of a crisis faster.
Romanian entrepreneurs need to find in economic counselors in Embassies an aid, not a shut door, Vladescu said. He urged them to leave aside the diplomatic position and be more open towards Romanian exports.
In January 2009, according to preliminary estimates of the National Statistics Institute, exports totaled 1912.4 million euro and imports totaled 2488.8 million euro. Compared to January 2008, exports dropped by 12.9% and imports dropped to 28.2%.
