HotNews.ro

Liberal Party (PNL) vice-president Crin Antonescu explained for Romanian news television Realitatea TV on Monday that the opposition Social Democratic Party (PSD) were no longer a natural enemy of the Liberals as this role was taken by President Basescu and his party, the Democrat Liberals (PDL). Antonescu, together with a couple of other Liberal leaders are open to a post-electoral coalition with the Social Democrats.

The statement came as former PSD PM Adrian Nastase who has recently returned to take a place within the leadership of the PSD told Gandul newspaper that his party couldn’t ignore the possibility to form a post-electoral alliance with the Liberals. Plus, PSD leader Mircea Geoana admitted to have met Liberal PM Tariceanu to discuss a possible common strategy.

Meanwhile, Liberals announced on Monday the formation of a new right wing pole together with the Popular Action run by former Romanian President Emil Constantinescu and Romania’s Peasants Party.
