Romanian cucumbers for export in the EU might be distributed, for free, on the internal market
Romanian cucumbers destined for export in the EU might be distributed, for free, on the internal market to hospitals and other institutions since intra-communitarian commerce is blocked, Agriculture ministry state secretary Adrian Radulescu declared for Agerpres news agency.
Otherwise, producers risk to throw away over 2,000 tons of cucumbers. A decision will be taken in the ministry on Monday, Radulescu said. The free distribution will be made together with certificates of the National Sanitary – Veterinary Authority. Radulescu said that each day the stock increases by 200 tons.
Romanian producers lose about 100,000 euro daily with the export ban in the EU and with the sales decrease of 70% on the internal market.
