Foreign citizens in Spain, a category that includes a quite large amount of Romanian citizens, will benefit from free of charge medical attention, regardless of their being registered or not in the cities they live in.

According to Romanian Global News, the medical coverage will range according to the immigrant’s statute, registered or not. Being registered in the residence locality grants more medical services, Spanish portal “Si se puede” informs.

Citizens who are not registered as residents may access public emergency services, in case of serious illness or accidents, regardless their nature.

Foreign pregnant women will be taken care of regardless their legal status, during pregnancy, at birth and after the birth.

Clandestine immigrants in Spain will benefit from medical and pharmaceutical care based on their individual health book, in primary care centers. In order to obtain the health book, they must present an identification document.
