Great Britain Ambassador to Bucharest about Traian Basescu’s visit to London: I hope that British investors could help Romania develop its cyber infrastructure

British Ambassador to Bucharest, Martin Harris declared in an interview for the Romanian public television, TVR that the meeting between President Basescu and British PM David Camera will end with a partnership for the development of the economy at the European level and bilaterally and the visit will encourage British investors especially in cyber infrastructure. Romania is a stable ally, Harris said.

Here are his statements:

  • It will be the first meeting between Basescu and David Cameron. 
  • It is an occasion for a partnership between the government in Great Britain and authorities in Romania  
  • I believe both countries have a common situation: how to relaunch the economy after the crisis. 
  • I hope we can close a partnership at Brussels between Great Britain and Romania Europe’s economic growth is even a greater challenge and is very important for Europe to maintain competitiveness to emerging markets like India, China. 
  • We need to work at the European level to encourage commerce and promote innovation  
  • I believe both countries need to find new growth sources and Great Britain is waiting for a tight partnership with Romania in this sense  
  • We see in Romania a stable ally: we work together in Afghanistan, we implement the UN resolution in Libya and the two officials will tackle issues related to the Middle East  
  • Restrictions for Romanians will last until the end of the year when the British government will decide whether they will continue restrictions or not  
  • The meeting will end with a partnership to develop the economy and will encourage British investors to come to Romania.  
  • A huge British telecom company plans to invest over 500 million euro to widen mobile-internet infrastructure in rural areas. This is an excellent thing.
