Romania upholds European policies for SMEs, says PM in Brussels

Romania is interested in sustaining European policies for small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), as this sector has the best development potential that might produce economic growth and jobs, according to a statement by PM Calin Popescu Tariceanu during the European Council in Brussels.

Entrepreneurship in SMEs was a major theme debated on during the summit.

Within the next period, Romania will develop a legislation that will facilitate the establishment of SMEs, informs a Government press release. By the end of 2007, the EU member states will have to establish a unique registering point for SMEs enabling the functioning of a SME in no longer than a week.
