Romanian athletes lose gold medal chances at Beijing Olympics
All Romania’s representatives attending various Olympic competitions on Monday lost their chance at wining gold medals. Gymnast Marian Dragulescu was the favorite for the gold medal at Men’s Vault, as a multiple world champion. However, he finished fourth after missing his second vault which cost him a top 3 place.
Romania’s gymnast Steliana Nistor faced some serious competitors and managed to get on the seventh place, losing the gold medal to He Kexin (China) at the Uneven Bars competition. The fight for the gold medal was fierce as both He Kexin and Nastia Liukin (US) received the same score. However, the jury gave He the top medal because her performance had less errors.
At her turn, Nicoleta Grasu gave in to pressure and lost in the Women’s Discus even though she was the favorite.
