Russia distrusts Georgian leaders

Russia does not trust any of the current Georgian leaders, Russian Foreign Affairs minister Serghey Lavrov declared on Tuesday after meeting his Finnish counterpart, Alexander Stubb.Russia’s actions are meant to bring about peace and stability in the region and no action is take specifically against Georgia.

He added that the international community must pay more attention to the real facts and data of this crisis and re-think its attitude towards Russia. Moreover, he underlined that Moscow pushed Georgian authorities to sign an agreement which would have brought about stability in the region for several years now. However, Georgia refused to sign.

Pro-Russian army in Abkhazia declared that they surrounded Georgian troops in Kodori, a disputed region pertaining to Abkhazia, AFP informs. Some 250 soldiers from Abkhazia took part in the operation. Quoted sources declared that troops continue their armed conflict.
