Romania will receive non-reimbursable funds of over 30 billion euro from the Brussels once it joins the European Union and will contribute some 8 billion euro to the EU budget, according to a press release of the EU Integration Ministry in Bucharest.

The ‘swap’ is included in the new Financial Perspective 2007-2013 that EU member states agreed in early April, an accord ratified by the EU Council and the European Parliament this week. The deal will be applied starting January 1, 2007.
