Reactor 3’s vat, containing fuel bars might be damaged, TEPCO, the operator of the Fukushima nuclear plant announced on Friday. It is possible that the vat containing the fuel bars to be damaged, TEPCO said quoted by ADP. The roof f the superior building was already destroyed these last days by a powerful explosion.
UPDATEJapanese PM Naoto Kan warned on Friday that the situation at Fukushima is unpredictable, AFP informs. We are working to keep things from getting worse and we must be extremely careful, Kan said.
Meanwhile, cooling procedures of the reactors might take at least a month, TEPCO announced. The Japanese nuclear security agency announced that it does not exclude the possibility of increasing the nuclear incident risk from 5 to 6 on a 0 to 7 scale. On Friday, cooling operations continue at reactors 1,2 and 4 while interventions at reactor 3 were suspended following the irradiation of three employees on Thursday.
