Czech Republic opens labor market

The Czech government decided to open without any restrictions its labor market for Romanian and Bulgarian workers, after the accession of the two countries to the European Union, Czech PM Mirek Topolanek declared.

“Since we don’t want to be the victims of a limited free circulation, we can’t be the ones to victimize Romanians and Bulgarians”, the prime minister said after a government session on Thursday.

Topolanek added that the opening of the labor market won’t cause any significant problem for the national economy. However, protection measures for the market can be adopted in case it is necessary.

According to official data, the Czech Republic has 10.2 million inhabitants, 440,000 unemployed and 100,000 open jobs.
